Matte painting & Concept

The idea of the power rangers’ alien ship is it had been buried underground on Earth for a long time and merged in together with rocks. There wasn’t a concept in the pre-production for this angle of the ship so I had the opportunity to help concept the look for the entrance which was later used as reference for CG and comp.

Added destruction onto the city streets sequence.

The cliff sequence was filmed at a quarry in British Columbia. The CG department extended the cliff surface and edges to to help tell the story by creating a naturally eroded cliff which is passed on to our team to push it into a photorealism level with the use of high resolution photos and paintwork on top of CG rock renders and re-projection onto the geometry.
